Three instruments · macOS · by akaieuan

An acid box, a four-layer synth, and a sampler that eats its own output.

Built one at a time, in the open, and documented as they go. Every version number on this site is read out of the plugin that shipped it.

The collection
How these get made

01

Possible was never the problem

Each of these could be built from a rack of plugins and enough clicking. i4 drops thirty seconds of its own output onto a pad, back at the top of the chain; you could rig that from a bus and a sampler and never play it live. One window you can perform is the job.

02

A reference, not a spec

None of these model a specific circuit. Enzyme evokes the Protein's lo-fi bite with bitcrush, sample-rate reduction and waveshaping rather than reproducing a wavetable engine. The reference is a target, not a spec.

03

Version numbers you can check

These are at v0.1, v0.4 and v1.0, and the pages say so. What is finished is listed, what is queued is listed, and where a README overpromises against the build, the build wins.

Build an instrument out of blocks, and hear it before it exists. Drag blocks onto a plugin window, wire the signal path, patch modulation with cables — and hear it, because the engine underneath is the same C++ the three instruments run on.
